Economic Calendar: May 25 - May 29, 2026
Publication date: May 22, 2026
In this weekend Money Care report, we provide an overview of key macroeconomic developments and corporate results that could move financial markets in the week ahead. The main focus is on the release of the U.S. core PCE price index for April and U.S. Gross Domestic Product for the first quarter of 2026.
Review of the past week:
The main event of the past week was the release of Nvidia’s quarterly results. The exceptionally strong figures were announced after the market closed on Wednesday evening. The company reported record revenue of $81.6 billion, an increase of 85% year-on-year and 20% compared with the previous quarter. The Data Center segment in particular remains the main growth engine, with revenue reaching $75.2 billion, 92% higher than a year earlier. Gross margin also remained very high, at around 75%.
Looking ahead, Nvidia issued a strong outlook. For the coming quarter, the company expects revenue of $91 billion.
An important note is that Nvidia is not counting on Data Center revenue from China in that forecast, indicating that geopolitical export restrictions may still be a drag. The market reacted positively, but not euphorically.
Furthermore, inflation in the European Union rose to 3% in April from 2.6%. This was in line with expectations.
Outlook for the coming week:
Monday is Whit Monday, but stock markets in Europe are open as usual. In the United States, Monday is Memorial Day and stock markets are closed.
Investors turn their attention next week primarily to the release of the U.S. core PCE price index for April and U.S. Gross Domestic Product for the first quarter of 2026. Both dates will be released at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
The core PCE price index measures changes in the prices of goods and services purchased by consumers. Food and energy are excluded. This makes it an important measure of how inflation is developing in the United States.
