Influence of Symrise AG on the DAX 40
Symrise was included in the DAX 40 in 2021 and represented an index weighting of 0.90% in December 2024. This makes it one of the smaller names in the index, but the stock offers investors access to sustainable consumption, food technology and cosmetics. Despite recent share price pressure, Symrise remains a relevant representative of the chemical and consumer-related industries within the DAX. Investment analysis & outlook
If you look at the chart below, you can see that the share prices of Symrise and the DAX were in sync until about a year ago. Then Symrise's share price started to split off. Whereas the DAX index has risen solidly since then, Symrise has not been able to keep up with that momentum. The share price reached its highest point in November 2021 at €132.65, but has gradually fallen back since then. This trend is mainly caused by margin pressure, rising commodity prices and a global decline in demand for consumer products.
Nevertheless, the company's fundamental position remains strong. The chart shows that the stock has moved around an important technical support point in recent months, which may indicate a possible bottom formation. Symrise has a solid customer base, a strong focus on innovation in R&D and a clear sustainability strategy, including in natural resources and circular manufacturing processes.
For 2025, analysts foresee a cautious recovery, with expected revenue growth of 4-6% and a stable margin. The strategic focus is on high-value segments such as botanical extracts, fragrances for niche cosmetics and functional ingredients for food and animal feed.
News & updates
Symrise announced in June 2025 a strategic partnership with a French producer of botanical extracts, strengthening its portfolio of natural ingredients. In addition, a new production line was opened in the U.S. to better serve the North American market. The sustainability strategy was also sharpened with targets for climate neutrality by 2030. Despite short-term headwinds, management remains positive about growth prospects.
