Economic calendar: June 22 – June 26, 2026
Publication date: June 19, 2026
In this weekend report from Money Care, we provide an overview of the most important macro-economic developments and releases that could influence the financial markets in the coming week. The focus is primarily on inflation figures from the United States, with the core PCE price index being the most important release.
A look back at the past week:
Following the signing of a temporary agreement between Iran and the United States, the stock markets opened the week significantly higher. Upon closer examination, however, it appears that the agreement is primarily a cautious first step toward a definitive peace agreement and still contains many uncertainties. Growing doubts about the agreement’s sustainability subsequently put pressure on the stock markets.
On Wednesday evening, the FOMC announced its interest rate decision. As expected, the policy rate in the United States remained unchanged. The market interpreted the tone under new Chairman Kevin Warsh as relatively cautious and inflation-focused. As a result, expectations of a rate cut in the short term diminished, while the possibility of a rate hike later this year came more clearly into focus.
This remains dependent on developments in inflation and the labor market. The stock markets initially reacted with disappointment but later managed to recoup some of their losses.
Outlook for the coming week:
Investors will be focusing primarily on the release of the U.S. core PCE price index next week. This index measures price changes for consumer goods and services, excluding food and energy. Since the Fed closely monitors this measure of inflation, the release could influence expectations regarding monetary policy. The core PCE price index will be released on Thursday, June 25, at 2:30 p.m. Dutch time.
At the same time, new figures on economic growth in the United States will also be released.
