AEX, Nasdaq, and Dow Jones Update - August 13, 2026

Publication Date: August 13, 2026

AEX

On Thursday morning, August 13, the AEX stood at 1,116 points. That is 5 points higher than last week, or 0.45%.

Market Development

The AEX started the trading week on a positive note and reached a record high of 1,121 points on Tuesday. This is exactly 1 point above our short-term price target of 1,120 points. After reaching the price target, the AEX edged lower and hit its lowest level of the week so far at 1,109 points on Wednesday.

Inflation figures from the United States influenced stock prices. Inflation declined slightly, but this was in line with investors’ expectations. U.S. stock markets reacted significantly more positively to the inflation figures than European markets.

Market Sentiment

Short-term sentiment in the stock markets is uncertain. The quarterly results of major companies have been released and were generally well received. U.S. inflation and employment figures have also been released and have contributed to positive price movements. Sentiment is shifting toward uncertainty about whether many companies will be able to justify their high valuations in the future.

Outlook

The price target has been reached. According to our model, the AEX could first test the zone around 1,080 points from that level. Following a recovery to approximately 1,100 points, our base scenario anticipates a correction toward the 1,030 to 1,050-point zone.

For the long term, the positive scenario remains intact. Following this correction, our model anticipates a new upward move toward the price target of 1,230 points.

Nasdaq futures

On Thursday morning, August 13, the Nasdaq futures were trading at 29,860 points. That is 300 points, or 0.1%, higher than last week.

Market Trends

The Nasdaq futures contract has traded in a quiet sideways pattern over the past week. This followed the strong price movements of the preceding weeks, during which the price corrected and then rebounded sharply.

Sentiment

Long-term sentiment toward the technology sector remains strong. In the short term, however, the sector is facing uncertainty due to the valuations of AI-related stocks.

Outlook

The Nasdaq futures have undergone a brief correction and are currently in a strong recovery. According to our model, this rally could drive the index to a record high of around 32,000 points in the short term. We then anticipate a new correction toward the range between 27,500 and 26,500 points.

After this correction, the long-term uptrend may resume, bringing a price target of approximately 34,500 points into view.

Dow Jones futures

The Dow Jones futures contract is currently trading at 54,010 points. That is 540 points, or 1%, lower than last week.

Market Trends

The Dow Jones futures contract has also reached our short-term price target. With a new record high of 54,881, the price experienced a strong rally and even traded above our price target of 54,000 points. Over the past week, the price corrected slightly in a sideways pattern.

Sentiment

The underlying sentiment surrounding the Dow Jones futures remains strong, but is uncertain in the short term.

Outlook

According to our model, the price could test the record high of 54,881 in the short term. This could be followed by a larger correction toward 51,000 points.

This zone could then serve as a base for a new upward move toward the long-term price target of approximately 58,700 points.
