The week ahead: inflation figures US and EU

In Money Care's weekend report, we present you with the overview of the (macroeconomic) events that could cause movement in stock markets.

Review of last week:

There was a lot of shuffling in the US over the past period with the publication of important macroeconomic data. The publication of the (core) PCE Price Index remained out this week and has been pushed back to Friday, December 5. No major figures with significant deviation from expectations were released in the past week. US producer prices rose 0.3% as expected. Somewhat notable was the lower-than-expected increase in US retail sales and the notable drop in US consumer confidence.

Upcoming week:

In the week ahead, we look forward to the delayed release of the Kern PCE Price Index in the US. PCE in Dutch stands for Personal Consumption Expenditure and is a good indicator of the development of inflation in the US.

The important monthly labor figures (NFP) come out by default the first Friday of the new month but the publication has been postponed for now to Tuesday, December 16, 2:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, the Consumer Price Index in the Eurozone will be released. This inflation figure has long been stable around the desired 2%. Furthermore, some attention to the employment change estimate for ADP on Wednesday. On the same day, the US service sector purchasing managers' index will also be released.
