What to Watch This Week:
On Thursday, April 10 at 2:30 PM (ET), the latest U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) will be released. This is expected to be the most important macroeconomic figure of the week.
The CPI tracks changes in the prices of goods and services and is a key indicator of inflation. We’ll get both the year-over-year and month-over-month numbers, along with the Core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices to give a clearer picture of underlying inflation trends.
There’s growing concern about inflation in the U.S. right now. And with the added uncertainty from the new trade restrictions, there’s increased fear of stagflation, that tricky combo of slowing economic growth and rising prices.
